A monumental collection of 35 original prints (№1141 to №1175) from "BRAIN CELL," the life’s work of Ryosuke Cohen, a legendary figure in the Japanese mail art movement.
■ "BRAIN CELL": A Universe of Global Connectivity Launched in 1985, this project involves Cohen reconstructing fragments of artworks sent to him by artists from every corner of the globe. Each piece visualizes a "Knowledge Network," where the diverse energies of creators intersect on a single sheet. This 35-piece sequence offers an overwhelming parade of colors and icons, inviting the viewer on a borderless artistic journey.
■ The World’s First Official Sale: Unparalleled Rarity Historically, these works were only distributed as return gifts to participating artists. With only 50 copies produced per edition—most of which remain scattered worldwide—finding a cohesive sequential set is virtually impossible. This marks the world's first official commercial sale, authorized by the artist, offering a collection of true museum-piece caliber.
■ Provenance & Prestige In the 1980s, Cohen began his activities alongside Shozo Shimamoto, a founding member of the Gutai Art Association. His profound impact on humanitarian art led to his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize by Bern Porter, the physicist and peace activist who served on the Nobel selection committee.
