A graphic novel inspired by Kanzan & Jittoku, rendered entirely in black ink. Each of its eight episodes is paired with a classic blues or rock song as its "accompaniment" — from Blind Willie Johnson to Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones — setting image and music side by side. Raw, unrestrained brushwork coexists with quiet white space, pulling a classical Zen painting subject lightly into the present.
