This is an original work created in 2021 by Ryosuke Cohen, a leading figure in the Japanese mail art scene.
Since the 1980s, Cohen has been a pivotal force in global mail art, beginning his journey alongside Shozo Shimamoto, a founding member of the legendary Gutai Art Association. His international influence is immeasurable, having traveled the world to spread the philosophy of artistic exchange.
The profound humanitarian and artistic value of his work is highlighted by the fact that Bern Porter—the American physicist and peace activist who served on the Nobel selection committee—once nominated Cohen for the Nobel Peace Prize.
His signature series, "BRAIN CELL," is an ingenious project that reconstructs fragments of artworks sent to him by artists from around the world. Historically, these pieces were only distributed as a return gift to participating artists and were never available for general sale.
This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a piece from the world’s first official sale of the BRAIN CELL series, made possible through the artist's special cooperation. With only 50 copies produced per work—most of which are sent back to artists worldwide—the number of pieces remaining on the market is extremely limited. We invite you to add this vibrant "Cell of Knowledge" to your collection.
