■ Curator's Note

Works from the 1PAGE series are built from fragments cut from vintage fashion and lifestyle magazines, layered with acrylic paint and reassembled into new compositions. The density and rhythm that emerge from overlapping printed matter — colour fields, typography, faces — form the core of MONKNORI's visual language. Each work occupies approximately A4 in scale, yet contains an internally coherent world.

The oldest work in the series, predating MONKNORI's formalisation of the 1PAGE format. Cut fragments from 1990s fashion publications are assembled with deliberate density. The closer one looks, the more each fragment reveals a prior context.

■ About the Artist

MONKNORI is a Tokyo-based collage and mixed-media artist best known for the 1PAGE series — compositions built from fragments of vintage fashion and lifestyle magazines, combined with acrylic paint. Since her solo debut in 2011, she has exhibited at THE blank GALLERY (Harajuku), Gallery NIW (Edogawabashi), and 3331 Arts Chiyoda. Awards include the Nika Exhibition Design Section Encouragement Award (1986), selections in THE CHOICE (2006, 2009), and the Nishiwaki Samuhole Grand Prix Exhibition (2017).
